What are priority events, and why don't all events have radar, velocity, and point soundings?
Priority events are the high-profile days: notable, photogenic, heavily chased, and making the headlines. Look for the dot next to an event in the app. Radar, velocity, and point soundings take real processing time and storage to build, so we build them for priority events. We're in the process of backfilling more historic events.
Which events have upper-air maps?
Events in the continental US and southern Canada from 1940 on, which is most of the archive. Events elsewhere, including Alaska, Hawaii, and outside North America, and events before 1940 don't have upper-air maps yet. We plan to add more regions.
Will free features ever move behind the paywall?
Searching, browsing, footage, reflectivity, and soundings are free, and that's the plan going forward.
